Our teams were back in action after the midterm break last weekend. All teams were in action there were some very food football on display.
Our 9s were away to Swords Manor. We didn't have to far to travel though as their pitch was unplayable the game was moved to the All weather at the NAC. Everyone had great fun and our 9s who have come on a lot over the last few months came out clear winners.
Our 10s travelled up to Drogheda this morning. We didn't have a full squad travel and unfortunately that counted against us in the end. Our lads battled hard but just fell short in the end.
Our 11s were at home to Malahide this morning. We had great performances all around the pitch and it was great to see how our midfielders, defenders and goalie responded to being put under real pressure at times. Fantastic passing and moving today with brilliant team goals.
Under 12s welcomed Balscadden Boys. Tyrrelstown dominated much of possesion in the first half, some tight passing and dribbling resulted in 2 goals within the first 15 minutes. Balscadden quickly found their shape and managed to get off a few shots but they were well stopped by our goalie to finish the half 2-0. Balscadden came out in the second half with the same intensity and didn't take them long to find the net. Tyrrelstown quickly shut down any hopes of a Balscadden comeback by netting another 4 goals in quick succession. A brilliant team effort by all ending the match 6-1 winners! Special mention to Sam Abbott for scoring his first goal for the club.
Our 13s had a late afternoon kick off against Kinsealy. To coin an old football phrase it really was a game of two halves. We started the game well, controlled play throughout the first half and were in control. However after a number of substitutions in the 2nd half unfortunately we lost our shape at times and came out the wrong side of a 2-1 game.
Great to see the numbers continue to grow in our nursery and academy. Boys and girls born between 2015 and 2018 are welcome.
A couple of observations after the day we had, we're just about ready to add a 2nd 12s and 13s team. We just need 2 or 3 more players for each group to be sure we continue to have strong panels for both squads. So if you have children born in 2010 and 2011 please get in touch.
For our teams to continue to develop we need to be training 2 nights a week. Our players won't progress with just a single hours training. It's imperative that we get a 2nd night on our Astro in Tyrrelstown.
